QuBase is a food company dedicated to making authentic Ethiopian cooking easier without changing its soul. We create a ready-to-use, slow-cooked onion base (kulet) that gives home cooks and small businesses the most time-consuming part of wot preparation—already done, properly and traditionally. Our product is made from only one ingredient: onions, finely chopped and slow-cooked to the exact stage needed for Ethiopian stews, with no added oil, salt, or spices. Customers keep full control over flavor while saving time, effort, and kitchen stress.
Our Story
QuBase was founded by two friends and business partners who grew up loving Ethiopian food and seeing how much work stood between a craving for wot and a plate on the table. In many apartments and houses, we watched ourselves and our loved ones spend nights peeling, chopping, and slowly cooking kilos of onions—eyes stinging, kitchens smoky, and precious time disappearing into one step of the meal. All around us, we saw the same story: people deeply attached to Ethiopian food, but quietly worn down by the hours of prep it demanded.
So we asked a simple, stubborn question: what if the hardest, messiest step was already done—properly, with respect for tradition—so that cooking wot could fit into real, modern lives? QuBase is our answer to that question: a way to protect the soul of Ethiopian cooking while removing the barrier that keeps people from bringing it into their everyday.
